Daphne explains to Dirk how the wizard has become extremely powerful and would be undefeatable without the help of the Dragon Essences: magical objects that grant their users abilities and are each guarded by the strongest beings in the castle. Daphne is taken through a portal, but leaves behind an amulet that allows her to talk to Dirk as he works his way through the castle withholding her. Dirk sees this as he is riding his horse, Bertram, and unsuccessfully tries to rescue her. The story starts as the Princess Daphne is captured by the dragon Singe commanded by the wizard Mordroc. Treasure is also brought into the game to act as optional challenges to complete collecting all 100 treasures unlocks extra gameplay options such as unlimited mana, alternate character skins, and faster sword charging for use when the player starts a new game. A crossbow is also introduced and is used as an alternative weapon and resourceful object for puzzles. Health and Mana meters are also introduced and can be given upgrades throughout the game. New mechanics are introduced by the Dragon Essences that grant new powers. Many of the rooms seen in the original are seen again, though some are modified. A mostly linear exploration of the castle is broken up with boss fights, many of which are characters from the original arcade game, but not all. The game is the first in the series to host non-restricted movement for the player. The game uses cel shading to mimic the style of the hand-drawn art of 1983 game. Animator and director Don Bluth, who produced the cartoon animation for the original Dragon's Lair, produced new animated sequences for the opening and ending of the game. Many of the characters and locations from the 1983 original make appearances in the game, along with new puzzles, rooms and enemies. It is based on 1983 arcade video game Dragon's Lair and follows a similar story: Dirk the Daring must enter the evil wizard Mordroc's castle to rescue Princess Daphne from Singe the Dragon. I had to phisically open up my control pannel and switch my joystick 180 degrees. The problem i was having earlier was that when i hit UP. ****Take note**** I could not re-map my joystick. Now take your key map that your wrote down earlier, and map the start, coin, sword (button 1 i think) to what buttons you want. So you have to set that up or find a hard wire way to get into the file system for the next step. I am running Mac OS and have my rasp-pi set up on my internet network. I made a chart with my button layout and wrote down each buttons number when i pressed it. When you run that script, every time you hit a button, you should be able to see what number that button is mapped to. You are correct in thinking that Daphne does not use the retroarch core for input mapping. Coin 2, start, all the skill select buttons, service, test and reset buttons are set to âNothing.â Finding the ID number of each of the buttons and then correcting the config file should fix your issues. Likewise, left, right and button 1 are all set to the same input as well. In your config up, down, and button 2 are all mapped to the same input. When I get back home I can post my working config file, but unless your encoder is listed and set up the same as my 8bitdo controller it will likely be different. I am also able to play with my 8bitdo joystick. My personal config is a bit simpler since the iPac encoder is seen as a keyboard. Running something like jstest from a command line to find what button is what will help. You have to figure out what the button ID numbers are interpreted as in your system. Looking at your config for the joystick inputs ( the last set of numbers) there are multiple duplicates. I have been using Daphne for over 10 years. I have not plugged my pi into my A1Up cab yet. I have Daphne running off a raspberry pi that uses an iPac as its encoder.
